Summer Solstice

Summer solstice arrived a few days ago and I knew I should just take some time out and explore my neighborhood. My tour guide had to be patient with me a few times as I stopped to watch: frogs jumping around a large puddle, my dog trying to jump very high over the grasses in the hayfields trying to figure out where I was, deer ambling along, then jumping as if they were jumping hurdles, after they spied us, and grouse noisily flying through the brush. Did I mention this was a 2.5 hour hike? Or did I mention that I stopped to take numerous photos, which I will share? Yes, this is just a mini-showcase of what I enjoy about Madison County.20140624-155611-57371542.jpg
